Wicklow - Circuit Court - Sittings Update for February 2021

In accordance with the order made by the President of the Circuit Court, in pursuance of the powers vested in her, dated the 27th January 2021 and having regard to the current provisions of the Health Act 1947 (Section 31A -Temporary Restrictions) (Covid-19) Regulations 2020, the following is the situation regarding Circuit Court and County Registrar’s business for February 2021: -
 

Circuit Court Criminal Sittings

No jury trials will commence on the Eastern Circuit until 1st March 2021 - with a review on 23rd February 2021. Note: the 2 weeks of Wicklow jury trials, fixed for hearing at Trim Courthouse commencing the 2nd February 2021 have been vacated and are adjourned to a date to be fixed.

All other criminal matters will be heard as usual including sentencing hearings, arraignments, bail applications subject to weekly review and strict compliance with public health guidance and the Court’s own guidance in relation to face coverings.

In all cases where the accused person is in custody and is listed for a new mention that appearance shall be done by way of video link, where possible.

A Judge will be available to hear all urgent applications.


Circuit Court Family Law Sittings

Family Law matters listed from 1st February 2021 to 1st March 2021 are adjourned, to a date to be fixed in the Circuit Court Office. Note: the scheduled family law sittings for Wicklow Circuit Court for the weeks commencing the 16th February and the 23rd February 2021 are accordingly adjourned, to a date to be fixed.

Family Law matters may be listed for hearing remotely, if necessary.

A Judge will be available to hear all urgent applications. Judge Patrick Quinn, will sit at Bray on the following dates to hear urgent matters, rule settlements and make consent orders:

  • Friday the 5th February 2021 at 10.30am

  • Tuesday the 9th February 2021 at 10.30am

Consent orders such as consent divorces may be heard where both parties are represented. Remote hearing may be facilitated, if necessary. Any requests to list matters on these dates or to seek a remote hearing must be emailed to braycourtoffice@courts.ie with a letter of consent from the other party.

The situation will be reviewed on a weekly basis from 23rd February 2021.


Circuit Court Civil sittings

Any Civil matters listed from 1st February 2021 to 1st March 2021 are adjourned to a date to be fixed in the Circuit Court Office and new hearing dates will be published on the Legal Diary in due course.

Note: There are no scheduled civil sittings listed for Wicklow Circuit Court for February 2021

A Judge will be available to rule settlements, infant settlements and take applications.

Urgent applications to be heard remotely where appropriate.

A Judge will be available to hear all urgent applications and Judge Patrick Quinn, will sit at Bray on the following dates to hear urgent matters, rule settlements and make consent orders:

  • Friday the 5th February 2021 at 10.30am

  • Tuesday the 9th February 2021 at 10.30am
