Notice from the President of the District Court regarding the criminal lists of Tallaght District Court, Blanchardstown District Court (Courts 1 & 2), Swords District Court, Balbriggan District Court and Dun Laoghaire District Court from Tuesday 31st March, 2020 to Wednesday 8th April, 2020 (inclusive)

 

In light of the additional restrictions announced by An Taoiseach on the 27th March, 2020 and in order to ensure compliance with Government policy while retaining access to justice, the following arrangements apply:

 

With effect from Tuesday 31st March 2020 and until Wednesday 8th April, 2020 inclusive, the criminal court lists scheduled for:

Blanchardstown District Courts (Courts 1 & 2) will be listed in Court 1, Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ)

Tallaght District Court will be listed in Court 4 Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ)

Dun Laoghaire District Court and Swords District Court will be listed in Court 3, Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ)

Balbriggan District Court Thursday 2nd April will be listed in Court 3, Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ)

 

All Civil Law matters in Dun Laoghaire District Court will be adjourned as provided for under Order 2 of the District Court Rules,  the office will post notification in accordance with the Rules and will further notify the parties of the adjourned date.

 

All Civil and Family Law matters in Swords District Court will be adjourned as provided for under Order 2 of the District Court Rules, the office will post notification in accordance with the Rules and will further notify the parties of the adjourned date.

 

 

Criminal Matters Generally in the Dublin Metropolitan District

In relation to criminal matters in the District Court, persons on bail should not attend and their cases will be remanded in their absence. Accused persons will be informed of the new court date by their solicitor or by the Courts Service, if they do not have a solicitor.

In relation to criminal matters in the District Court, persons in custody will appear by way of Videolink where possible or unless directed otherwise by Court.

New charge sheets matters, return for trials and custody case which will continue to be called individually in court and all other cases will be block remanded or adjourned and the date announced in Court and posted in the CCJ in accordance with the District Court Rules.
