The Courts Service is pleased to announce the publication of two new datasets on its Open Data Portal:
- The Annual Report 2024 - Statistical Dataset, providing detailed figures on court activity
- The Active Courthouses in Ireland dataset, listing all operational court venues nationwide
These additions strengthen our commitment to transparency, public access to justice data, and informed civic engagement.
Annual Report 2024 Dataset
This dataset presents the statistical data of the Courts Service Annual Report 2024, published on 7 July 2025. It offers a comprehensive view of court activity across all jurisdictions, including:
- Criminal Case Trends: Over 390,000 new criminal matters - a 6.3% year-on-year increase
- Civil Case Growth: Nearly 184,000 new civil cases - a 31% increase over four years.
- Personal Injury: Awards reduced by more than 45% compared to 2023
- Road Traffic Offences: Over 185,000 incoming offences - an 8.6% increase
The dataset includes granular breakdowns by court level, case type, and offence category. It complements the published report and highlights relevant context to the data.
Active Courthouses in Ireland Dataset
This new reference dataset provides detailed, up-to-date information on all operational courthouses across Ireland, including:
- Courthouse Name
- Circuit and District Assignments
- Postal Address and Eircode
- Geographical Coordinates (Longitude and Latitude)
The dataset supports legal professionals, researchers, and the public in understanding the distribution of court venues nationwide.
