Notice is hereby given that applications are invited from practising barristers and solicitors who are eligible for appointment to the Office of Ordinary Judge of the High Court.

Those eligible for appointment, and who wish to be considered, can apply in writing to the Secretary, Judicial Appointments Advisory Board, Phoenix House, 15/24 Phoenix Street North, Smithfield, Dublin 7, or email judicial.appts@courts.ie for a copy of the relevant application form.

It should be noted that fully completed application forms received by this office will be considered for vacancies that may arise in the High Court during 2024. These applications will only remain valid pending establishment of the Judicial Appointments Commission.

For administrative purposes, applications should be submitted by 4 p.m. on Thursday, the 1 August 2024.

However, it is open to eligible applicants to submit applications for judicial vacancies at any time during the year.

Information in relation to judicial vacancies may be obtained on www.jaab.ie.

It should also be noted that The Standards in Public Office Act, 2001, as amended, prohibits the Board from recommending a person for judicial office unless the person has furnished to the Board a relevant tax clearance certificate (TC SIPO) that was issued to the person not more than 18 months before the date of a recommendation. Applicants are therefore advised to ensure the tax clearance certificate (TC SIPO) is in date, and where such a certificate requires renewal or has not already been furnished, applicants should make early contact with the Office of the Revenue Commissioners to ensure that a certificate can be processed and available for inclusion with their application.

Applicants may, at the discretion of the Board, be required to attend for interview.

Canvassing is prohibited.

Dated the 4 July 2024.
