NOTICE TO PRACTITIONERS

The High Court Common Law Lists from Monday 9th November 2020 onwards will be held as follows:

  • Motions for the Sitting will be heard by way of physical hearing
  • All other motions will be heard by way of remote hearing

A paginated and indexed booklet of motion papers in respect of motions to be heard by way of remote hearing (not physical hearing) is required to be lodged no later than close of business on the Thursday preceding the date for hearing. Please note that no late lodgement of the booklet of motion papers will be accepted.

The booklet of motion papers must be in an envelope clearly marked with the wording “Common Law List with the date of the hearing”. This should delivered to the List Room which is situated on the Ground Floor of the Four Courts Building (beside the Central Office).

No booklet of motion papers is required to be delivered in advance of the hearing of Motions for the Sitting which will be heard by way of physical hearing. The booklet of motion papers for the Motions for the Sitting should be brought to Court on the day of the hearing for handing up to the relevant Judge.

The Virtual Courtroom Number and relevant instructions for practitioners in respect of motions to be heard by way of remote hearing will be made available each week to members through the Law Society of Ireland and the Bar of Ireland websites.

Practitioners should check the High Court legal diary (http://legaldiary.courts.ie/high-court) - Common Law List section each week for details on the relevant list.

Any queries in respect of this notice should be emailed to alanbyrne@courts.ie
