Notice:
The Probate Office and District Probate Registries wish to assist you in an efficient manner. To help us in this regard it is important to note the following information:

Role of the Probate Office and role of the solicitor:

1. The Probate Office and District Probate Registries assess the documentation you prepare and ensure that you have complied with relevant succession law.

2. They have no role in the drafting/preparation of your documentation and do not give legal advice where issues arise for you regarding title and the relevant application of succession law.

3. Where questions of procedure arise, the probate pages on this site, Probate Practice in a Nutshell by Eamonn G. Mongey and the various Law Society manuals are helpful sources of information.

Hours of business:

General Office and Rules Office:

10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Seat Office:

Opening Hours:
10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.
3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. (for payment of 'fees only')

With effect from 29 May 2017:

Lodgment of documents:

All applications to the SEAT office must at a minimum contain the following:

1. Original or copy Death Certificate (Coroner’s Certificate is acceptable if Death Certificate not available)
2. Original will (+ 3 copies, 1 to be certified)
3. Oath (+ 2 copies)
4. Bond (required in all cases except where an executor is applying)
5. CA 24 Revenue Affidavit x 2 sworn originals (alternatively 1 original sworn copy and 1 x certified copy)

Any application presented which does not contain the above (and the required copies) cannot be checked and will lead to inevitable delays with your application.

Important notes:

1. Payment of fees is by fee card only (cash/cheques are not accepted).

2. De Bonis Non applications and applications with a foreign (other than United Kingdom) dimension must be lodged by DX, post or drop box in the Probate Office.

Closed:

'Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Day and the 7 next following days, St. Patrick's Day, Good Friday and Monday and Tuesday of Easter Week and the days duly appointed to be observed as public holidays in public offices.' Order 118 Rules of the Superior Courts.
